I first heard about Pure Barre from a friend back in VA. She went on and on about how much I would like it with my cheerlading background and love for yoga. To be honest, I thought that it would get boring or redundant. Boy was I wrong! I go to Pure Barre West Portal out here in San Francisco and I am in love. I'm talking after my first class I signed up for the 6 month unlimited membership.
I think I am so addicted because it is fun, it's an intense workout in under 1 hour and it really works. I have gone to 4 classes now since joining last week and I feel stronger already. I can tell little differences in my arms, they seem to be toning up already! I am to go 4-5 times a week and I run as well. I eat very healthy but of course, I am a sucker for pizza but eh, I'm from New York so that's okay.
Thus far, these are the most important tips I can give someone who is considering trying it out.
- Use the sticky socks. My first class I went in regular socks and oh my Lord I was sliding everywhere. I feel like I had to take some focus away from the workout to make sure I didn't face plant on the ground.
- Get there early. I would say 10 to 15 before class starts. You want to stretch some and claim a spot. Once that music starts you jump right in so you will want that extra time to get in the zone!
- Pure Barre is a little pricey but it really works. I 100% stand behind this company, workout and what they represent. I see it as an investment for my health and the fact it is a little pricey makes me really hold myself accountable for going.
- Don't freak out when an instructor moves your foot to correct you. My first two classes or so I was being corrected all the time. And hey, I never did a barre workout before so there was no way I was going to get everything right. Don't be rubbed the wrong way if they correct you, 100% of the time when they do fix something it makes the workout easier!
I absolutely love Pure Barre and I love Pure Barre West Portal. The instructors are great and very helpful! Do any of you lift, tone and burn?
Until next time!
