I liked it and it was different but as the days went on and the color faded I was REALLY missing my blonde hair. I feel like my personality fits both shades which didn't help. I can be really serious and reserved but I am also super bubbly and goofy. I have been a blonde all my life and spent the first half of those years as a naturally REALLY light blonde. After 23 years of being on the light side I was bored and needed to "go to the dark side" and people say they have cookies so why not!?
Super blonde, right?
Welp, like I mentioned the color faded and I was just not feeling like myself. It is so crazy how a hair color can really alter how you see yourself and how you feel.
Well today I went to my salon near work, Onyx Salon in Burlingame, I normally go to an Aveda salon in San Francisco where I live but I work near Burlingame so I figured why not!
Three hours later I am back to blonde!! I love it and they are even posting my before and after photos on the website so I got a free swag bag full of Bumble and Bumble products.
My tips for going blonde:
1. It takes time...lots. If you have super dark hair don't expect to get to platinum blonde in one visit.
2. You need to really take care of your hair after. Going lighter = bleach which = damaged hair. So treat your hair to a coconut oil mask or some really awesome conditioner. I love Aveda's Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner.
3. Try to lay off the heat. I don't blow dry my hair a lot on the account I am super low maintenance and lazy with this stuff. If you need to blow dry your hair try to not crank up the heat.
4. If you are going to use heat, use heat protection. There are oodles of ones I have/love. I suggest Chi 44 Iron Guard or Aveda's Brilliant Damage Control
You really should go with the hairstyle that feels more natural for you, rather than try a style that clashes with who you are. Forget the presumptions. Forget the trends. Hair can be such an expression of identity, that one should handle it with much confidence and care. Good luck!
